National Event 2026 June 9 – 16

British National Event … Scarborough …
Tuesday 9th June to Tuesday 16th June 2026
Following the success of our house based Pilgrimage weeks in Dorset 2024 and Shropshire 2025, for 2026 we have booked a house in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The property is close to the town centre, just a short walk from the ‘bus and railway stations. This is our only National event in 2026.
Whilst being in an urban location the house has private outdoor space. Nearby are Scarborough’s two beaches, several public parks, the historic town centre and the medieval castle. Just a short ‘bus journey away are the walking opportunities offered by the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the coastal walks of the Cleveland Way. A day trip to Whitby is very likely!
The normal Pilgrim lifestyle of daily worship and discussion time, a daily walk (based upon ability), shared cooking and meals eaten together will give a structure to our week.

The house offers bed accommodation (full bedding provided) for 11 people, with camp-beds (using own sleeping bag) for additional people up to a maximum capacity of 15 people (which we cannot exceed). If you are unable to bring your sleeping bag and use a camp bed please make that clear on your booking form.
If you are not able to join us for the whole week, please do book for part of it … it will be good to see you, even if only for a day or two. With our Tuesday to Tuesday booking a weekend visit is possible …
Scarborough Railway and ‘Bus Stations are both a short walk from the house. Some trains from around the country offer through services, other journeys may require a change at York. You may find it more economic to change at York or Leeds onto the Coastliner ‘bus service (accepts ‘bus passes!) which starts in Leeds, stops just outside York Railway Station and terminates at Scarborough ‘Bus Station. National Express also serve Scarborough ‘Bus Station.
As this property is so convenient for access by public transport please think seriously about travel by train/bus rather than car.
If you plan to join us on Tuesday 9th June please do not arrive before 5 p.m. Our first meal will be about 7.30 p.m. If you will be leaving on Tuesday 16th June please arrange to have left by 10.00 a.m.
If you are coming for part of the week please make that clear on your booking form by saying which will be your first meal and which will be your last. As places are limited it is important that we know when members plan to come and go, so that, for example, a member who is leaving early might ‘hot place’ with someone who is arriving later in the week.
As places have to be capped at 15 it is important that you send in a booking form as soon as possible and not later than Tuesday 31st March …
Places will be allocated on a first come basis and booking will close on 31st March. If you expect to join us but have concerns that health or other issues may stop you at the last minute, it is important that you book early … it is easier to handle cancellations than try to fit people in at the last minute.
If all the places are allocated when you send in your form you will be told that you are on a waiting list.
The cost will be £25.00 per day, making £175.00 for the whole week. For those whose only income is a basic state benefit, or who are a full time student, the cost is £15.00 per day, £95.00 for the whole week.
Please join us if you can, it will be great to see you in 2026. If you have any questions please contact me.
See you in Scarborough, Ian Mason, National Guardian.
